Mission
Our mission is to represent and
protect the sector's interests with
government, sectoral bodies and any
other relevant entity, in policy matters
that affect the profitability of our
member organisation. This translates,
for example, into actions such as: our
recent and ongoing application to
withdraw tariffs on imported paper and
board
our influence over MAPPP SETA to
expedite the refund of Skills
Development Levies to employers
our assistance as Trustees of the
SATU Benefits Fund
our participation as a member of
SACOB - South African Chamber of
Business
our establishment and expansion of
the Cross Media Training Centre
and our hosting of the 8th World
Print Congress in Cape Town in January
2005
Objectives
To ensure that the interests of our
sector are taken into consideration by
relevant government departments in any
legislation that might affect our
members
To ensure that our larger members
are represented either directly or
indirectly on national bodies that might
affect their interests
To provide competitively priced and
relevant services to smaller members
To actively campaign for access to
lower priced raw materials
To identify and promote export
opportunities through the establishment
of the South African Packaging and Print
Export Council
To provide cost effective training
and development for our members through
the Cross Media Training Centre
To encourage members to address the
challenges of BEE and the HIV/Aids
pandemic and to provide possible
solutions to members needing assistance
in this regard
To encourage sound practice amongst
our members in the areas of financial
management, industrial relations and
general business practice
To provide a forum for our members
to discuss common needs within the
confines of legislation
