The PIFSA Environmental Interest Group (PEIG) was created for members to discuss common problems and solutions for all aspects of the environment and to provide a forum for members to meet with the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA).

PIFSA are involved in the following:
South African Bureau of Standards (SABS)  TC146 committee, dealing with Air Quality
Support for the Packaging Council of South Africa (PACSA) to draft an industry waste management plan for the Packaging and Paper Industry.
