Authority is in doubt, and while there will probably
not be many of our members which will mourn this

BBBEE – Progress at last The long delay in gazetting the final Broad Based
Black Economic Empowerment Codes
ended back in February, but the interpretation of
the Codes and the practical implications
of implementation are only now beginning to be
understood. Like many pieces of new
legislation, it is only when it is tested in
“real-life” that the consequences, both intended
and unintended, will be seen.

In December last year the Cross Media Training Centre became a separate non-profit company registered in terms S 21 of the Companies Act. Up until last year the CMTC had been exempt from income tax, but changes in public benefit organisation tax legislation necessitated this change.
